Mezzo-Soprano, Jennifer Barsamian has been praised as being a consummate artist with a winning personality and a deep, rich, strong, vocalism. She was most recently heard at the Belleayre Music Festival in the title role of Carmen. Described as the “quintessential Carmen “ Ms. Barsamian has also sung the title role with Opera Western Reserve in Ohio, New Jersey Verismo Opera, and with Dell’Arte Opera in NYC.

This past year Ms. Barsamian was heard singing four different roles in Donald Sosin’s opera, Esther. As a member of Glimmerglass Opera‘s Young Artist Program Ms. Barsamian covered the roles of Alma March in Little Women, Mamma Lucia in Cavalleria Rusticana, and was a featured artist on the Young American Artist Recital series. Other roles include the title role in The Rape of Lucretia, Mum in Albert Herring, the Third Lady in Magic Flute, The Witch and Mother in Hansel and Gretel, Zita in Gianni Schicchi, and the Old Lady in Candide.

In recent seasons Ms. Barsamian has been heard at Asheville Lyric Opera, Opera Company of the Highlands, and the Utah Festival Opera. At the Spoleto Festival USA she covered the role of Irene in Handel’s Tamerlano and was featured on the Kenan Fellows recital. Equally at home on the concert stage she has performed such works as: the Vaughn Williams Magnificat, the Haydn Stabat Mater, Handel’s Messiah, the Durufle Requiem, and the Mozart Requiem.

Ms. Barsamian holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Music from Westminster Choir College, a Master of Music Degree from North Carolina School of the Arts and a Performance Artist Certificate from the A.J. Fletcher Opera Institute in North Carolina.
